This workshop will teach how to deepen the awareness of your body and mind via practice of asana & relaxation and prepares you for self-practice at home. To beginners it shows what yoga is and how to listen to your own body as your best teacher of yoga as well of life. Those, who have been practicing since years and teach, are taken farther into the yogic journey of the self exploration. The parts of the body, which we do not feel, are our blockages – physical as well as mental – because our organism and mind are inseparable. Being aware in yoga practice is the most precious tool to bring inner awareness to each part of the body, as well as to brighten and transform our life.
DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE
Intensive Yoga Weekend in Chandigarh conducted by Leona, will immerse the participant into the essence of Yoga, teaching both its aspects, philosophical as well as practical. During this Workshop, a student learns everything that is needed to maintain a regular self-practice independently.
In the workshop Leona will use awareness that is often overlooked in other forms of Yoga and unique approach to teaching the foundations of Yoga Practice in the simplest way possible.
There are thousands of Yoga Asanas, but which of them are the most beneficial for our modern times?
This question is being answered on this Yoga Workshop. It will introduce the B.K.S. Iyengar style – as taught and evolved by unique Indian yoga master teacher Sharat Arora (Anand Sagar), founder of the Himalayan Iyengar Yoga Centre – as well as providing a working knowledge to become a self-practitioner. For those who practice since many years it will be a deeper immersion into the practice. It is a study of Corrective, Rejuvenating – Energising and Relaxing – Meditative postures.
Students with ailments are given specific Therapeutic Attention and Guidelines.
The Workshop provides a fundamental framework and will inspire one to explore deep within. The Workshop is Informative, Motivational and, above all, Experiential.
The daily program will comprise of Asanas Class, Meditation and Pranayama Relaxation. Additionally to these Yoga Practices, the Course contains Question & Answer Sessions concerning the Self-Practice and Yoga Philosophy.
THE SHARAT ARORA YOGA METHOD
The Sharat Arora Yoga Method is an evolution of Iyengar Yoga. It is the study of action and non-action or rest. Through this exploration, we are able to connect with our pranic, or life force to explore the full spectrum of consciousness from an animalistic stage to enlightenment.
Master Yoga Teacher Sharat Arora has spent 40 years practicing, teaching and extensively exploring the therapeutics of yoga. He has developed, and still continues to explore a unique approach to teaching the fundaments of Yoga practice in the simplest way, by focusing on the foundations in all the poses, using a minimum of effort and learning to let go. Because of its value in creating harmony, it heals all disease including backache, knee problems, neck pain, IBS, hormonal issue and more.
Meet the Facilitator –
Leona journey with Yoga goes back as far as 20 years ago. It all started in Brighton, England where she had her very first yoga class upon her visit to the Mediation Centre. Since that very first day Leona can’t remember a day of her life passed without practice.
Leona is an International certified Yoga Teacher and a certified life-coach & master practitioner of NLP. Several years ago she quit her “secure” well-paid job to pursue this passion of teaching Yoga and bring people awareness to how such an ancient practice can transform their life for good. Since then she has travelled, taught & learned from many teachers in many New Zealand to the United States, Mexico to Japan, and all over Europe & Scandinavia. She incorporates coaching into her yoga teaching as well as sharing advice on nutrition, healthy life-style, self-confidence, communication skills.
Her most unique experience so far, was when she entered the Himalayan Iyengar Yoga Centre (HIYC) and met the former student of Guruji BKS Iyengar – Yoga Master Teacher Sharat 5 years ago. There she did her 3rd Teachers Training Course at the Himalaya Shanti Ashram & HIYC with Guru Sharat Arora. Since then Sharat Ji has mentored her.
Presently Leona is a Senior Residential teacher at HIYC (at both locations Dharamkot, Dharamsala as well as Arambol, North Goa) since 4 years and has been teaching the 5-Day Yoga Courses, the Yoga Therapy Courses, 320 hours Teachers Training Courses in HIYC and Sharat Arora Yoga Method intensive workshops all across India.

A little about The Yoga Master Teacher – Sharat Arora (Anand Sagar)
Born in 1953 and discovered Yoga in 1978. He went through intensive, full-time training for seven years with BKS Iyengar at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Institute in Pune and assisted B.K.S. Iyengars on all levels of Asana classes. However, more significant in his development as a practitioner and teacher was his involvement in the daily therapy sessions, serving countless patients. His fusion of this experience, with his extensive study of Western medicine, greatly influenced his continually-evolving Yoga technique and sharpened his unique Yoga therapy skills.
During this time of his growth and transformation, Sharat was living in a Buddhist community and became interested in meditation, particularly Vipassana. With this added insight, Sharat made a breakthrough in understanding what Yoga techniques were meant to bring about in himself and others. He was further inspired by the teachings of J.Krishnamurti and later by HWL Poonja (the linage of Ramanamaharishi), leading to a more holistic practice and Yogic life. Sharat’s clear and precise instructions, constant and detailed attentiveness, focus on providing students with the tools to practice and explore independently, and therapeutic knowledge for treating ailments and injuries, are combined with a spiritual depth that makes his instruction unique. Sharat speaks French, German and English fluently and has lived and traveled extensively in Europe.
